UPDATE Version 2.0 Beta
The new version is finallly out. If you havent had any firewall or uac problems it can act just like the old version. Just press the query clients button and then refresh to get the latest info from your clients.
If you have had firewall or UAC problems in the past you can now install a client service to upload the info to the server.
1. Simply go to the client info folder on you home server under the software share folder.
2. Run the installservice.bat file and the Client Info Service will be installed and start updating the server every 10 minutes.
3. Enter a username and password for the service using an account on the client computer using the <computer name>\<username> format.
4. Thee account the services is running under must have permission to save files to the client info folder under the software share. ie. if you can go to Shared Folders then Software with out entering a password you should be fine.
5. All files are copied to a client info folder under program files. If you wish to change the refresh rate, update the config file and restart the service.
6. If you are using the client service, do not use the query clients button. Just use the Refresh button to update the info.
Please let me know if you have any problems
Thanks

If you are still having UAC or firewall problems, Jon Studer has put together a great step by step set of instructions on how to get WMI information.

Micosoft ALERT!
When you use certain programs to edit files on a home computer that uses Windows Home Server, the files may become corrupted when you save them to the home server

I have been using SyncToy 2 Beta which is included in the list, and I haven't noticed any corruption yet. Everyone should check out the article just to make sure they aren't going to lose any data.

UPDATED Client Info Add-In 1.0.2.17
Description
- Uses multi-threading to query the clients faster and without freezing the console.
- Celeius or Fahrenheit can now be used.
My next task is to find a work around for the firewall and UAC problems people are having. Most firewalls including windows build in firewall block WMI by default. Vista's UAC also blocks access to remote WMI. So I will be working on better instruction on how to allow access, and also on a client side service that will update the clients info.
Please let me know if you have any more suggestions.

Client Info Add-In 1.0.2
Description
- Displays hardware information from your home server and all client computers; including processor, memory, IP address, drive size, drive temp, and if a drive SMART failure is predicted.
- Most of the information is retrieved by using WMI so a username and password is required for client computers, firewall and UAC settings may need to be adjusted to permit WMI.
Changes in this new version
- Disconnected computers are displayed correctly
- RAM is calculated correctly
- Error messages have been made easier to reed
- Username and password are stored for each client computer
- Hard drive temp alarms can be set for each client and the server
- A warning is shown if a SMART failure is predicted
I am still thinking of how to make this add in more usefull, and easier to set up. The biggest problems so far seem to be centered around firewalls and UAC blocking the WMI request. I am working on documentation to clealy define how to set up access through each. I am also currenlty thinking of making a client side service available to update the data locally and save it out to the server therefore bypassing this problem. This would be a pretty big redesign so it may take a while, but I'll keep everyone posted here with my progress.
